3. Cookies, interest-based advertising, advertising choices
We may use cookies, tags, web pixels, and similar technologies to automatically collect information through our Services. Cookies or tags are pieces of code that allow our technology partners to collect information that does not normally directly identify you. Where required by law, we will request your consent before using cookies or other tracking technologies. The information in this section describes our use of cookies and your ability to control their use for advertising purposes. As described below, we will not use cookies or similar tracking technologies that process your Personal Data unless they are strictly necessary cookies, or you choose to give consent via the cookie banner or consent manager on our Site and App. You can withdraw your consent or update your preferences at any time by clicking on the "Manage Cookies" link in the footer of the Site or the App.
  • A. Cookies . Cookies are small web files that a site or its provider sends to the hard drive of your device via your web browser, allowing the site’s or provider’s system to recognize your browser and remember certain information.
  • In general, we use first-party and third-party cookies for the following purposes: to ensure our Services function properly; to provide a secure browsing experience while you use our Services; to collect passive information about your use of our Services; to measure how you interact with our marketing campaigns; to help us improve our Services; and to remember your preferences for your convenience.
  • We use the following types of cookies, tags, and related technologies on our Website, Apps, and Services:
    • Strictly necessary cookies. These cookies are crucial because they enable you to use our Services. For example, strictly necessary cookies grant you access to secure areas of our Services. Without these cookies, some services cannot be provided. These cookies do not collect information about you for marketing purposes. This category of cookies is essential for the functioning of our Services and cannot be disabled.
    • Functional cookies. We use functional cookies to remember your choices so that we can customize the content of our Website accordingly and provide you with enhanced features and personalized content. For example, these cookies may be used to remember your name or preferences on our Services. We do not use functional cookies to target you with online marketing. Although these cookies can be disabled, this may result in reduced functionality when using our Services.
    • Performance or analytical cookies. These cookies collect passive information about how you use our Services, including the web pages you visit and the links you click on. We use the information collected through such cookies to improve and optimize our Services. We do not use these cookies to target you with online marketing. You can disable these cookies as described below.
    • Advertising or targeting cookies. These cookies are used to make advertising messages more relevant to you. They perform functions such as preventing the same advertisement from appearing repeatedly, ensuring that ads are properly displayed for advertisers, and in some cases, selecting ads based on your interests. Our external advertising partners may use these cookies to build a profile of your interests and use it to show you relevant ads on other websites. You can disable the use of these cookies as described below.
  • B. Your choices . Your browser may give you the option to refuse some or all browser cookies. You may also be able to delete cookies from your browser. You can exercise your preferences regarding the cookies offered through our Services by following the steps described below.
    • First-party cookies. You can use the browser you are using to view this site to enable, disable, or delete cookies. To do so, follow your browser's instructions (usually found in the "Help," "Tools," or "Edit" settings). Please note that if you set your browser to disable cookies, you may not be able to access secure areas of the site. If you disable cookies, other parts of the Services may also not function properly. You can find more information about changing your browser's cookie settings at https://www.allaboutcookies.org .
    • Third-party cookies. If you wish to opt in or out of third-party advertising networks and similar entities that use advertising cookies, click on the 'Manage Cookies' link in the footer of our website or visit https://www.aboutads.info/choices . See https://www.aboutads.info/consumers for more information about third-party advertising networks and similar entities that use these technologies. You can withdraw your consent or update your preferences at any time by clicking the 'Manage Cookies' link in the footer of the site or in the app menu. Residents of the European Union can opt out of online behavioral advertising offered by the participating organizations of the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance by visiting https://www.youronlinechoices.eu/ .
    • Mobile applications. If you wish to opt out of data collection for interest-based advertising in mobile applications by participating companies, download the mobile app opt-out tool from the Digital Advertising Alliance here: AppChoices: https://youradchoices.com/appchoices .
  • We do not control the collection or use of your data by third parties for interest-based advertising. However, these third parties may offer you ways to choose not to have your data collected or used in this way. In addition, most web browsers provide ‘help’ pages regarding cookie preference settings. More information per browser can be found here: Google Chrome , Internet Explorer , Mozilla Firefox , Safari (Desktop) , Safari (Mobile) , Android Browser , Opera Mobile .
SHEIN adheres to the self-regulatory principles of the Digital Advertising Alliance.
  • C. Web pixels. To assess the success of our marketing campaigns or other goals of the Services, we sometimes use conversion pixels, which fire a short line of code to let us know when you have clicked a particular button or reached a certain page (for example, a thank you page after you complete the subscription procedure for one of our services or fill out one of our forms). We also use web pixels to analyze user patterns in our Services. The use of a pixel allows us to record that a particular device, browser, or application has visited a specific web page.
  • D. Analytics. We may use external service providers to observe and analyze the use of our Services. Currently, we use Google Analytics. Google Analytics is a web analytics service that tracks and reports website traffic. For more information about Google's privacy policy, please visit Google's 'Privacy & Terms' web page: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en .The Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on gives visitors the opportunity to prevent their data from being collected and used by Google Analytics, available at: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout .
  • If Google Analytics is configured to collect personal data, the cookie banner on our Website gives you the option to grant consent to Google Analytics, and the data controller will be Google Ireland Ltd., Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. We have implemented Google Analytics with the 'AnonymizeIP' function, which ensures that your IP address is shortened before it is transmitted to servers in the US. In exceptional cases, this shortening may take place after such a transfer to the US has occurred. Google uses this data to evaluate your use of our Services, to compile reports on activities on our online services, and to provide us with other services related to the use of the Website, App, and the internet.
  • E. Behavioral Remarketing. We also use remarketing services to provide you with advertisements on third-party websites after you have visited our Services. For this purpose, visitors are grouped based on certain actions on our Services, for example, based on the duration of a visit. This allows us to better understand your preferences and show you personalized ads, even when you are currently on another website that also participates in the Google advertising network.
  • We use the following tools and services for these purposes:
    • The remarketing service of Google Ads provided by Google. You can opt out of this via the 'Google Ads Settings' page: https://www.google.com/settings/ads .
    • If Google Ads is configured to collect personal data, the data controller will be Google Ireland Ltd., Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
    • Bing Ads is a service managed by Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, One Microsoft Place, South County Business Park, Leopardstown, Dublin 18, Ireland. Read Microsoft's privacy statement for more information about how Microsoft processes your data: https://privacy.microsoft.com/en-US/ . When you access our Website through ads on Bing Ads, a cookie is placed on your computer. In addition, a Universal Event Tracking tag is integrated on our Website. This is a code that, in combination with the cookie, stores data about the use of the Website, such as the duration of your visit, the pages viewed, and the ads used to reach the Website. Furthermore, Microsoft can track your usage patterns across multiple electronic devices through so-called cross-device tracking. The collected data is transferred to a Microsoft server in the United States. If Bing Ads is configured to collect personal data, the cookie banner on our Services gives you the option to grant consent for Bing Ads.
    • Facebook Ads. With the help of Facebook Business Tools we can show you interest-based ads when you use Facebook. If you want to change your preferences or opt out of the personalization of ads displayed by Facebook, you can go to the Facebook Ads preferences, in addition to the Your Choices section below. We can also show ads to audiences with characteristics similar to yours. For this purpose, a list of email addresses is irreversibly encrypted (hashed) and uploaded or sent from our site, and Facebook matches the hashed data with its users, generates a lookalike audience, and deletes the uploaded list. We do not have access to the identity of anyone in the "lookalike" audience unless they choose to click on one of our ads.
  • F. Other tracking technologies. We may also use tracking technologies to collect 'clickstream' data, such as the domain name of the service providing you with internet access, your device type, IP address used to connect your computer to the internet, your browser type and version, system and platform, average time spent on our site, web pages viewed, content searched for, access times and other relevant statistics, and assign unique identification codes to the device or other login credentials you use to access the site for the same purposes.
  • Parts of our Website may also use small pieces of embedded computer code called Java script ("Software Development Kits" or "SDKs"). These SDKs speed up the refresh rate of certain aspects of our Website or Apps, help us monitor the usage of various online components, allow parts of websites to be stored or cached in your browser to improve website performance, and enable the local storage of certain interactive web content files ("HTML5") on the local storage of your computer or mobile device, so that they remain available when you visit the Website or use the Apps.
  • G. Do Not Track. Some browsers, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari, offer the ability to send 'Do Not Track' or 'DNT' signals. Because there are no overarching standards for 'DNT' signals, our Website currently does not process or respond to 'DNT' signals.
  • H. Location Data. You may be able to adjust your device settings so that information about your physical location is not sent to us or third parties by (a) disabling location services in your device settings; or (b) denying specific websites or mobile applications permission to access location data by changing the relevant preferences and permissions in your mobile device or browser settings.

4. Security Measures
We maintain physical, technical, and administrative measures that meet industry standards to prevent unauthorized access to, use of, or disclosure of your information.
The internet is not a completely secure environment. We strongly recommend that you use a secure method and choose a complex password to help us ensure the security of your account. We also highly recommend that you do not share your password with others, or use passwords for our Services that you also use on other sites or apps, as this increases the risk of your data being compromised or falling victim to other malicious cyber behavior. If you believe that the security of your account or personal information has been compromised, please contact us immediately via our dedicated Privacy Center or as otherwise described in the Contact Us section at the end of this Policy.
