SHEIN’S MARKETPLACE RANKING POLICY

We may use certain parameters on the SHEIN app and website to rank the Seller’s products. We use these parameters to optimise your experience as a customer, as well as for other users in the Marketplace. As such, these parameters might be ranked sequentially or otherwise according to different customer, commercial and market scenarios and may attract varying weighting over time.
This Ranking Policy covers (1) the sections displayed in the Marketplace under which different products will be allocated according to certain parameters, this will be updated daily; (2) the display of products in the homepage or in response to a customer’s search and (3) the homepage promotional features criteria.
(1) Daily sections and parameters:
  • Best Sellers Section: Calculated based on number of sales and total amount of sales of the Product within the previous day.
  • Top Rated Section: Calculated based on the comment score and total amount of sales within the previous day.
  • Most Favourited Section: Calculated based on the number of people who added the product to Wishlist and the total amount of sales within the previous day.
  • Most Popular Section: Calculated based on the product's sales growth trend in the last 7-14 days.
  • Best Seller Of New Arrival: Calculated based on new products' number of sales and total amount of sales within the previous day.
(2) Standard ranking of Seller’s products display and how it is calculated. A product will have a high position in the ranking, hence will appear in a more prominent position within the homepage of the Marketplace or in response to a customer’s search based on the following parameters:
(1) Consumer preferences (for example, from previous orders, searches, browsing history, filters or clicks). If you want to know more about how we use your data, please check our Privacy Policy.
(2) Newness: New arrivals come the first and the oldest styles will appear last.
(3) Price of the products, which could be from low to high or high to low.
(4) Seller’s rating: The customer has the ability to assess each seller after confirming the receipt of the product through reviews (please see the Marketplace Reviews Policy here). Complaints and delivery times affect the seller’s rating; If a seller's rating is too low, or if a seller has an excessively high complaint rate, or to the extent that a seller's delivery time is too long, the seller's products will be low ranked in comparison with the other sellers’ product, by means of appearing in a less prominent position within the homepage or after a customer’s search or even be deactivated at the Operator’s sole discretion.
Other parameters used are:
(1) Seller’s seniority
(2) Product stock availability
(3) Product promotions. A short-term product ranking will increase if it is promoted on the platform.
(4) Click-through rates and conversion rates: Products that have higher conversion rates and click-through rates will be ranked higher in search results.
  • a. Conversion rate: number of conversions divided by the total number of visitors. For example, if the Marketplace receives 200 visitors in a month and has 50 sales, the conversion rate would be 50 divided by 200, or 25%.
  • b. Click-through rates: ratio of total clicks in search and display divided by the total impression. For example, if a product shows 10 time to a consumer through search and display and there are only 1 click, the Click through rates is 10%.
(5) Delivery options (e.g. Quickship)
These parameters are subject to change at any time.
The Marketplace currently does not offer options to modify or influence the ranking parameters.
(3) Criteria for informative pop-up windows or similar promotional features
The Marketplace offer some promotional information regarding certain product categories or general promotions via pop-up windows and/or similar features. Please find below some criteria that will allow you to understand when these promotional features may appear on your homepage:
  • - New user’s promotions
  • - Promotional games launch
  • - Temporary Marketplace promotions based on your location, the number of times you enter the site, the number of items you have favourited, etc.
When identical items are made available for sale on SHEIN’s Marketplace from two or more distinct Sellers, these identical items will be treated as totally different products and no other criteria will affect the display of one instead of the other.
The above parameters are taken into account whenever Sellers are displayed in the SHEIN app and website, including in response to a Consumer’s search and on the homepage. Sellers can optimise their visibility in the SHEIN app and website by offering promotional offers, receiving positive feedback from Consumers.
